Newcastle Arts Centre’s mini display space, The Showcase, hosts a new exhibition by Seeun Kim.

In Kim’s own words:

Seeun Kim is a UK-based South Korean artist. She has been dealing with various social issues in our global society. In this shocase, Kim is showing the public her Climate Change Agenda Project.

The global world of the 21st century, where we live today, has faced various social issues. In particular, the issues related to climate change in recent years have had a lot of influence on our daily lives. In the past, humans have coexisted with nature and received many beneficial benefits from nature. However, due to people’s reckless development and selfishness, nature has faced a world where it can no longer coexist with us.

Our ancestors protected nature and coexisted with it and handed it down to us. Perhaps it is time to hold ourselves accountable for damaging nature borrowed from our descendants and we may all be guilty of indiscriminate exploitation and damage to nature in the 21st century as we face climate change. I don’t think the soil and oceans where various creatures grow should be contaminated by our selfishness and we should take a new path to welcoming a healthy Earth. We have neither the right to damage nature nor the right to destroy it. Because the world we live in is a precious nature borrowed from our children.”
