Newcastle Arts Centre has had another year of creative progress despite the ongoing headwind of austerity imposed on the arts.  Founded back in 1981 an arts development company this centre continues to evolve its creative role in our community. Fortunately we own our buildings in the City Centre and enjoy a level of self funding that has kept us afloat since 1993. Our Centre is not just a home for our programme of Art courses, Exhibitions and Music events but is used by more than 80 arts, educational and community groups which results in more than 1000 events being hosted here each year and our studio artists produce work which is shown Nationally. We look forward to the challenge of the new year to expand our art and music programmes and invest further in sustainably reducing our carbon footprint.

As a social enterprise we are keenly aware of the problems of the High Street and the need to enhance this City a destination for trade and creative cultural activity. 2018 was a difficult trading year for us but 2019 has seen a real turnaround with all of our shops and venues busier during the last month than December last year. We are optimistic for 2020 and wish everyone a creative New Year.
