Who was Montague Whickham ? Many years ago, Mike Tilley  bought a box of old lantern slides from an auction in Newcastle. This turned out to be a lecture set on night photography by a photographer named Montague Whickham, who was unknown.  Most of the slides are of London, all taken before the First World War and show his considerable skill and talent as a picture maker. 

Because lantern slides are contact prints direct from the original negatives they were easy to scan and make fresh digital prints. This formed an exhibition which was shown at the Arts Centre and a selection now form this Showcase exhibition. 

The question still remains, who was Montague Whickham?
