One of Newcastle’s most talented street photographers, John Brookes’ keen eye for fleeting moments and rarely noticed viewpoints imbues his striking photographs with a unique sense of time and place. Whether the subject is a split-second shot of passers-by on the street, or an intimate portrait of a shopkeeper, his work captures the often unnoticed vibrancy of daily life in the city, showing the seemingly mundane in all its true variety, drama and beauty.

John Brookes’ work has been exhibited numerous times throughout the North East, to widespread acclaim. ‘Man About Town’ is on display in The Show Case at Newcastle Arts Centre from 15th April – 11th May 2024.
