Fashion Exhibition (February)

The next generation of fashion designers has executed a professional contemporary fashion design project in their first year of the BA Hon Degree at Northumbria University. The designers illustrated sketchbooks hosting a plethora of mixed media and 2D design work, which they then translated their designs and inspiration into 3D fully functioning Garments. Communicating a concept through research, design development, technical skills, drawing, pattern cutting, fitting, toile development and sewing construction.To demonstrate originality in their work, the students experimented on a mannequin and use moulagé, constructing a fashion 3D product. Each garment is unique and interprets design elements that the student has explored to create an original collective of toiles.
