NEWCASTLE ARTS CENTRE
Here at Newcastle Arts Centre we have a range of spaces for hire that can cater to various requirements.
Our Office & Studio Block has 4 different spaces. They are used for hosting small working groups for a few colleagues, to large scale presentations for 50 people, and numerous specifications in between.
We also have our Black Swan Bar & Venue, if you’re after more space and facilities for a conference or networking event. The Bar & Venue are flexible spaces that regularly cater to different scales, whether it’s a multi-stage and specialist event, or a more informal and relaxed occasion.
We love our collection of buildings. Sitting on on Westgate Road, only a 2 minute walk from Central Station, they benefit the convenience of city centre, while also containing a peaceful, planted courtyard – the perfect spot to take a break.

About the space
A large central table with surrounding chairs. There is a sideboard for refreshments and/or resources to be spread on. There is also a flat screen TV with HDMI already placed in the room. The room has 2x double plug sockets and an extension cord provided. In the summer, the door onto the veranda may be opened to let the air in.

About the space
9x large tables with 40 chairs, plus more able to be brought in. Computer desk and adjustable laptop stand for presentations, and other small furniture items for spreading resources. Large flat screen TV of varying sizes with HDMI may be set up in the room free of charge. Overhead projector in room and can be set up for £20 flat rate. The room has 10x double plug sockets and extension cords provided. The room has air conditioning to keep it cool in summer.

About the space
11x tables with 15 chairs, plus more able to be brought in. There is also a flat screen TV with HDMI already placed in the room. The room is equipped with a pull down projector screen, and a projector may be supplied in the room for a flat fee of £20. The room has 3x double plug sockets and extension cords provided. The room has three large windows to let in light and air.

About the space
9x tables with 14 chairs, plus more able to be brought in. A flat screen TV with HDMI can be provided in the room free of charge. The room is equipped with a projector screen, and a projector may be supplied in the room for a flat fee of £20. There is 3x double plug sockets and extension cords provided. The room has skylights to let in light.

Black Swan Venue
About the space
Split level space with both spaces step free accessible via goods lift. Booth seating along the back wall for approx 30 people, 11x cabaret tables with more able to be brought in, and further seating available for up to 120 guest capacity. Raised stage measuring 20×8 ft. Sound desk and surrounding PA equipment available for starting rate of £85. Projector screen and overhead projector available to set up for £35. All lights on lighting rig may be set up to your requirements free of charge. Hire of the Venue includes exclusive use of the Bar and the Entrance Lounge, which can be used as breakout space and dedicated space for buffet and/or refreshments.

Black Swan Bar
About the space
Tables and chairs for approx 40 guests with more available. Dedicated space for buffet and/or refreshments. Small performance stage included in hire: with speakers, CD player, and AUX input available for use free of charge. Flat screen TV with HDMI may be brought in free of charge. Exclusive use of the Entrance Lounge which can be used as breakout space. Large skylight above main bar floor to let light in.

What’s Included
- All space have free WiFi

- Each space has multiple plug sockets, and extension cables can be provided
- The space you hire will be set out to your required layout; please enquire if you have a different layout in mind from above and we will let you know how this would affect capacity
- All rooms in the Office & Studio Block are fully accessible via lift; the Black Swan Bar & Venue are accessible via goods lift which requires induction by a member of staff; the Black Swan Bar is split level and separated by 3 steps which do not have lift alternative
Where To Find Us
- Our site has two entrances; the courtyard entrance at 69 Westgate Road leading directly to Black Swan Court, or the shop entrance at 67 Westgate Road that leads through our Craftshop, on to the Gallery and Details Art Materials, and then through to Black Swan Court through the glass porch
- The entrance to our Office & Studio Block is the blue doors in Black Swan Court and the entrance to the Black Swan Bar & Venue is in the glass porch between Black Swan Court and Details Art Materials
- Our site benefits from city centre location with convenient transport links, 2 min walk from Newcastle Central Station and Metro, and 5 min walk from city centre parking

Rates & Offers
- Available for hire by the hour or for a discounted day rate
- In the Office & Studio Block, and the Black Swan Bar, the minimum hire is 2 hrs; in the Black Swan Venue the minimum hire is 4 hrs
- Let us know if you’re booking on behalf of a charity, not-for-profit, or arts project, as you may be eligible for our NFP rate
- Further discount available on enquiry for recurring and block booking
Additional Facilities
- Projection facilities are available in the Conference Room and both Studios for a flat rate of £20, and in the Black Swan Venue for a flat rate of £35
- PA facilities are available in the Black Swan Venue for a starting rate of £85; additional audio facilities may incur further charges
- Tea and coffee facilities can be provided in any space for £3.50 per head, which include biscuits, a range of teas and coffee sachets, cannisters of filter coffee and hot water, dairy and non dairy alternatives
