With Joanna Bourne

Explore the wonderful technique of Woodcut with Printmaker Joanna Bourne. Celebrate the coming of spring by creating a multi-coloured woodcut inspired by your favourite flowers of the season. You will be shown how to transfer your image to your wood block and, using a selection of gouges, cut away the wood leaving your image in relief for printing. Using rollers, you will ink your block with a variety of colours and print it using a press.
By the end of the day, you will have created a small edition of original prints to take home. You will be working on an A5 woodblock so please bring an image of this size to work from. These can be sketches, photographs, abstract patterns, or an image sourced from books. This class is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience of printmaking.
