The Queen of Folk Rock, Maddy Prior brings an evening of song drawing on a lifetime in British folk music.
Alongside Andrew (Spud) Sinclair (Steeleye Span), she presents thoughtful new material alongside traditional and familiar songs.

Alongside her celebrated work with Steeleye Span, Maddy has written new, exploratory pieces, covering wide-ranging subjects from hares and ravens, to the Plantagenets and King Arthur, and an imaginative journey through the Chakras.

Infusing Maddy’s traditional sound with modern influences, her and Spud will bring an evening of thoughtful and engaging material. Newly written work will blend depth and atmosphere, alongside a selection of traditional and familiar songs.

Still bringing fresh visions with her music after all these years, The Black Swan is thrilled to welcome Maddy Prior to its programme.

Booking Procedure – What happens next?
If you pay online you will be sent an email to let you know your place has been booked.

What should you bring with you on the day?
Nothing at all! We provide all the materials you need for every course. We do recommend wearing clothing that is easily washed – just in case!

Lunch
Lunch is not provided.

Refreshments
Refreshments are not provided, however we provide water for our attendants.

Where do the art courses take place?
All courses take place in Studio A or Studio B on the Second Floor of our Studio Block. This can be reached through the Black Swan Courtyard (on Westgate Road).

Parking
We recommend parking in the Grainger Town Multi-Storey (NE1 4DP) – 5 Minute walk from Newcastle Arts Centre.

Cancelling a course booking?
If you are not able to come to a course you have booked just get in touch with us as soon as you can. We will try to arrange a full refund where possible. Need to cancel your booking? You must inform us at least one week before the course’s start date to guarantee a refund.

Buying a course place as a gift?
We are happy to post you out a gift voucher for any one of our courses! Just let us know at the checkout under Additional Comments or give us a call during business hours.
