This is a one day course on:
Saturday January 16th
10am – 4pm
Experiment with monotype to create landscapes with hand drawn and painterly effects. Monotype is a print technique that yields one impression from a plate. It’s inspired artists from Degas and Gauguin to Peyton.
Monotype appeals for its versatility and the speed at which multiple prints can be produced. Through demonstrations and hands-on printmaking, explore techniques including single-line drawing and inks to reveal light from within a ‘dark field’ or applied with brushes. We’ll get to grips with perspective and monotype’s creative potential for flattening our experience of depth. Learn how to create a monotype without ink using carbon paper and how to apply ink to create reductive and painterly monotypes for different landscape effects.
You’ll leave with a collection of prints that reflect your personal style. You’re welcome to bring sketches, drawings or photographs as source imagery. Single line, bold mark making or reductive charcoal drawings lend themselves particularly well.
All abilities welcome.
