With Chun Chao Chiu
This is a one-part daytime course on:
Saturday, November 7th
10am-4pm
This full day course invites you to step away from the pressure of creating a perfect polished final artwork and instead dive into the process of making marks, colours, textures, and patterns. Using a range of mediums — watercolour, coloured pencils, ink, and graphite pencil — you’ll explore how each tool behaves, how it feels in your hand, and how it shapes the way you communicate visually.
Throughout the day, you’ll move through a series of guided exercises designed to help you:
- Experiment with line-making
- Play with colour combinations, layering, blending, and contrast
- Explore pattern, rhythm, and repetition as expressive tools
- Understand how different mediums influence your visual language
- Build confidence in intuitive mark-making rather than relying on a specific subject
- Develop a growing awareness of your own emerging visual style.
This course will focus on exploration, curiosity, and personal discovery. By the end of the session, you’ll have a collection of experimental studies and a clearer sense of how you naturally communicate through mark making and colour — the foundations of a distinct artistic style!
This workshop is suitable for beginners and experienced artists alike.
