With Mike Giblin
This is a one-part evening course on:
Wednesday, February 17th
6pm – 9pm
Learn the fundamentals of exaggerated portraiture from one of the UK’s most acclaimed caricature artists! In a friendly and informal atmosphere I will break down my process and philosophies, guiding students on the importance of first impressions, recognise the unique ‘big shapes’ that form the basis of a person’s appearance, and build up portraits in a logical, structured manner that debunks the popular misunderstanding that caricaturists “simply give everyone a big nose”.
I will instruct the class on what to exaggerate, simplify and stylise, whilst retaining what I feel is the most important element of all: an instantly recognisable, strong likeness. This course is open to all, from beginners through to more experienced portrait artists who wish to develop their caricature abilities. There may even be those who come along simply for a good laugh having a peek behind the curtain of this hugely enjoyable, humorous art form!
All abilities welcome
