The Black Swan for many years has ran a varied Jazz Programme, and been a popular city-centre Venue for performances of theatre, dance, cabaret, and live music.
You may already visit us for Salsa with SalSeduce on a Friday night, or our traditional Tuesday Jams – or maybe you’ve visited us for a birthday, wedding, or celebration.
Now we are happy to announce that The Black Swan will be open with regular programme Tues-Thurs from Sept 2025. We’re thrilled to be adding so many events and inviting new artists in to our beautiful basement venue.

Bringing back The Jazz Cafe…
The Black Swan’s long standing Tuesday Jam, every 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month, will now be joined by a Jazz Jam Sandwich every 2nd Tuesday of the month. This new Jam will celebrate contemporary Jazz, covering afro-beat, funk, soul and world music. And we’re pleased to introduce more Jazz musicians in our Jazz Cafe Presents... listings! The Black Swan has long been a home for Jazz, so we’re thrilled to be offering a platform for Jazz artists coming up through the scene.
Brand new Black Swan Pub Quiz!
Starting Wed 3rd Sept, then every Wednesday
In The Black Swan Bar, and hosted by Danny “Eyeballs” Gaffney. We’re very excited have a weekly pub quiz – a chance for those who already love The Black Swan, and those who want to get to know us, to get together and have some fun. Danny’s many years of hosting quizzes puts visitors in confident, friendly hands, allowing them to test their wits, show off their knowledge, and have a go. Classic rounds to be expected, with bonus challenges to keep you on your toes, and The Wheel of Plenty for the winning team…
Join us at Live Thursdays…
Thursday night is for connecting with new artists. Live Thursdays is a regular platform for independent musicians from a range of genres. Be it folk, cabaret, alternative, indie, electronic, or classical, The Black Swan is proud to be offering a regular slot for artists to grow their audience. From Sept-Dec ’25 all available Thursdays are programmed with live music – however are you a comedian or small scale theatrical performance? Introducing After Hours Art Club…
As an Arts Centre with an already thriving Art Course Programme, we’re thrilled to be debuting these creative, social art experiences down into our Black Swan Bar & Venue. After Hours Art Club is a chance to learn a new skill in a low pressure environment, have fun with art in a new setting, or to catch up and socialise while trying something different. Hosted last Thursday of every month (except December which will run Thurs 18th), these classes will be hosted by local artist Kasha Korzonek, who will guide you through the process, offering creative support and inspiration.
