With Nick Christie
This is a one-part daytime course on:
Saturday, April 3rd
10am – 4pm
Gelli plates are a great way to print mono prints without the need for a press. A mono print is a ‘one-off’ print which can only be made once, increasing its value. These plates have a springy surface, meaning they transfer images onto paper and fabric very effectively.
This workshop will focus on the many ways of using Gelli plates onto fabric, as well as onto paper, using acrylic paint. We will also create layers, building up images using stencils, found leaves and flowers, and images from glossy magazines. This technique works well with painterly marks, and is a very direct and immediate way of creating prints.
It is possible to Gelli plate print onto cotton, natural blends and silk. There will be a selection of fabrics to choose from during the class, and you are also welcome to bring your own fabrics to experiment on! This workshop is completely suitable for beginners to Gelli plates.
All abilities welcome.
