Saturday, April 27th,
10.00 – 16.00
Learn how to turn rough ideas into finished pieces of work using an artists most important tool, their sketchbook!
You will be provided with a sketchbook to work in and take home with you!
This course will assist you in developing your mark-making and compositional skills. Initial drawing exercises followed by colour compositional studies will allow you to explore these ideas visually, and build up thumbnail sketches that can be used to create more finished pieces of work.
Working from life, photographs, your own memory and imagination, you will explore drawing techniques including line drawing and tonal studies.
*Please note, you may be taken outside of the Arts Centre to draw from life. By purchasing a space on this course you agree the Arts Centre will not be held liable for your health and safety while you are working off-site, you are personally responsible for your own safety.

Booking Procedure – What happens next?

What should you bring with you on the day?
Nothing at all! We provide all the materials you need for every course. We do recommend wearing clothing that is easily washed – just in case!

Lunch is not provided.
Refreshments
Refreshments are not provided, however we provide water for our attendants.
Where do the art courses take place?
All courses take place in Studio A or Studio B on the Second Floor of our Studio Block. This can be reached through the Black Swan Courtyard (on Westgate Road).
Parking
We recommend parking in the Grainger Town Multi-Storey (NE1 4DP) – 5 Minute walk from Newcastle Arts Centre.
Cancelling a course booking?
If you are not able to come to a course you have booked just get in touch with us as soon as you can. We will try to arrange a full refund where possible. Need to cancel your booking? You must inform us at least one week before the course’s start date to guarantee a refund.
