This is a one day course on:
Saturday, April 13th,
10.00 – 16.00
Simply put, this new and exciting course will be a mixture of figure drawing, still life drawing, note taking from movement (with scenes and moving objects) and most of all, experimental making!
Taking influence from theories of thinking with your hands over your head, this course will see you experimenting with “automatic drawing” to encourage your own personal style and flair come out in the drawings you make.
We will work to create images that combine what we see with what we imagine, to build confidence and dismantle worry in the unique marks we make!
With a surrealistic sensibility and measured tutoring in equilibrium, Jenni will take inspiration from life drawing techniques to create still life sets and compositions that can be turned into observational drawings, or interpreted images.
We will look at artists such as Paula Rego, Di Chirico, Ben Nicholson, Jake Spicer, Jeanne Mammen, Joan Brown, George Grosz and so on, and take note of aesthetic decisions, social storytelling in image, and bring them into our own works.

Booking Procedure – What happens next?

What should you bring with you on the day?
Nothing at all! We provide all the materials you need for every course. We do recommend wearing clothing that is easily washed – just in case!
Lunch
Lunch is not provided.
Refreshments
Refreshments are not provided, however we provide water for our attendants.
Where do the art courses take place?
All courses take place in Studio A or Studio B on the Second Floor of our Studio Block. This can be reached through the Black Swan Courtyard (on Westgate Road).
Parking
We recommend parking in the Grainger Town Multi-Storey (NE1 4DP) – 5 Minute walk from Newcastle Arts Centre.
Cancelling a course booking?
If you are not able to come to a course you have booked just get in touch with us as soon as you can. We will try to arrange a full refund where possible. Need to cancel your booking? You must inform us at least one week before the course’s start date to guarantee a refund.
