This is two day evening course on:
Wednesdays, February 21st & 28th,
6 – 9pm
Mono-screen printing is a great technique for direct, spontaneous mark making!
This course will take you through all you’ll need to know about the general process of screen-printing, before delving deeper into mono-screen printing itself.
You will be shown how to draw or paint directly onto the screen, using a variety of drawing materials and water based inks, to then print these designs with a squeegee. You will be shown how to add layers to your multiple prints and use the loose characteristics to your advantage.
The first session will allow you to get to grips with the basics of this technique, before you move onto the second session to progress onto creating more developed designs. This second session will introduce the use of stencils to create structure in your mono prints. You will be able to design your art works more carefully, whilst still producing unique one-off prints, hence the term ‘mono print’.
All abilities welcome.

What should you bring with you on the day?
Nothing at all! We provide all the materials you need for every course. We do recommend wearing clothing that is easily washed – just in case!

Lunch is not provided.
Refreshments
Refreshments are not provided, however we provide water for our attendants.
Where do the art courses take place?
All courses take place in Studio A or Studio B on the Second Floor of our Studio Block. This can be reached through the Black Swan Courtyard (on Westgate Road).
Parking
We recommend parking in the Grainger Town Multi-Storey (NE1 4DP) – 5 Minute walk from Newcastle Arts Centre.
Cancelling a course booking?
If you are not able to come to a course you have booked just get in touch with us as soon as you can. We will try to arrange a full refund where possible. Need to cancel your booking? You must inform us at least one week before the course’s start date to guarantee a refund.
