Drawing Portraits Like a Pre-Raphaelite (February 17th)

This is a one day course on:
Saturday, February 17th,
10.00 – 16.00
Renowned Pre-Raphaelite painters Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti produced stunning drawings of female subjects from their own carefully posed portrait photographs, or from those of specially commissioned photographers. They did not simply copy photographs but imbued their drawings with the beauty, sensibilities, and technical brilliance of famous Old Masters such as Botticelli, Michelangelo, and Leonardo.
Join us for a day exploring Pre-Raphaelite images, drawing techniques, and sensibilities using conte crayons on a variety of textured Ingres drawing papers to create your own original works of art!
Full instructions and guidance will be provided throughout the day to enable the enhancement of your observation and drawing skills.
All art materials and images/source materials required for the course will also be provided.

What should you bring with you on the day?
Nothing at all! We provide all the materials you need for every course. We do recommend wearing clothing that is easily washed – just in case!
Lunch
Lunch is not provided.
Refreshments
Refreshments are not provided, however we provide water for our attendants.
Where do the art courses take place?
All courses take place in Studio A or Studio B on the Second Floor of our Studio Block. This can be reached through the Black Swan Courtyard (on Westgate Road).
Parking
We recommend parking in the Grainger Town Multi-Storey (NE1 4DP) – 5 Minute walk from Newcastle Arts Centre.
Cancelling a course booking?
If you are not able to come to a course you have booked just get in touch with us as soon as you can. We will try to arrange a full refund where possible. Need to cancel your booking? You must inform us at least one week before the course’s start date to guarantee a refund.
